The Teaching Security Operations Center (TSOC) at the University of Oregon offers a range of managed cybersecurity services to undeserved clients across Oregon while immersing students in an unparalleled hands-on learning experience. Our students develop critical job skills while defending real-world clients against evolving cybersecurity threats.
What We Do
The Teaching Security Operations Center (TSOC) at the University of Oregon delivers managed cybersecurity services to local government agencies such as counties, cities, schools, and special districts across the state of Oregon—while immersing students in an unparalleled hands-on learning experience.
Students develop essential skills in cyber operations, working on real-time defense against evolving cybersecurity threats. Whether it’s identifying vulnerabilities, responding to incidents, or monitoring systems, TSOC students gain the confidence, technical ability, and practical experience needed for in-demand roles in today’s cybersecurity workforce.
As a signature course in the UO cybersecurity curriculum, students rotate through core SOC functions to build applied expertise in network defense, incident response, and threat intelligence.
By integrating real-world cyber operations directly into the classroom, TSOC bridges the gap between academic learning and industry practices. This unique model prepares students for professional success while delivering high-impact cybersecurity services to the broader community.
In addition to service and training, TSOC supports a growing number of experimental research and capstone projects by enabling students to deploy cutting-edge solutions in a managed, privacy-preserving operational environment.
TSOC operates in partnership with major cybersecurity vendors, including SentinelOne.
