HISTORY, PSYCHOLOGY - Four faculty members at the University of Oregon are being recognized for their exceptional teaching ideas.

HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY - NASA recognized a University of Oregon alumnus for his impactful research on the health of astronauts in space with an award depicting NASA’s own safety mascot, the beloved cartoon dog Snoopy.

Two interdisciplinary teams have been awarded seed funding through the Incubating Interdisciplinary Initiatives awards, known as I3 awards, which provide up to $50,000 to University of Oregon research teams.

EAST ASIAN LANGUAGES & LITERATURES - Using language skills and cultural knowledge to tell stories that will make a difference are among the goals of a new program at the University of Oregon, which recently received funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

CREATIVE WRITING - The professor and poet, whose art explores natural beauty and repressed emotion, is recognized for a lifetime of achievement.

BIOLOGY - For his scientific contributions, Charles “Chuck” Kimmel recently was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the most prestigious professional scientific organization in the U.S.

PSYCHOLOGY - Paul Slovic, professor of psychology at the University of Oregon and one of the founders of the Decision Science Research Institute, has been awarded the 2022 Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science by the Franklin Institute.

PHYSICS - When Italian physicist Giorgio Parisi was one of three scientists named last week to receive this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics, UO physicist Eric Corwin was elated to see his longtime collaborator recognized.

LINGUISTICS - Linguistics professor Don Daniels will spend next summer in Papua New Guinea, where he will document languages in the most linguistically diverse country on Earth. Daniels has been awarded a prized National Science Foundation Career Award.

PSYCHOLOGY, BIOLOGY, THEATRE ARTS - The Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement honored four faculty members this spring for excellence in mentoring students as they ask questions and seek answers.
